For caravan dealers

Spectra handles towing checks, CRiS and habitation season.

A touring caravan has no V5C, and the customer's licence must cover the combination. Spectra turns those into handover checks you switch on, and emails reminders before each due date.

The handover readiness screen: a signed PDI still required, the balance paid, and a manager override reason that is recorded on the order.

Where the day goes. And what Spectra does about each part of it.

  • Touring caravans are registered through CRiS rather than the DVLA, and the paperwork gets lost.

Switch on registration tracking and registration, DVLA or CRiS, becomes a check in the handover gate, so the vehicle cannot be handed over with it unresolved unless a manager overrides the check and records why.

    Sales and deals

  • Is the tow car right for this caravan, and does the customer's licence cover it?

With towing checks switched on, the handover gate asks for a towing-combination check on towable vehicles and a record that the customer's licence category was verified.

    Compliance and NCC

  • Habitation season fills the workshop, and the diary runs on memory.

Reminder emails for MOT, service, habitation and road tax go out ahead of the due date. The offline-first technician app clocks jobs on and off, and on Professional a diary and drag-and-drop planning board show every bay by day.

    Workshop

  • Damp is found late, and the customer sees only a number on an invoice.

On Professional, the health check inspects on a diagram matched to the body type and axles, with defect notes, damp notes and moisture readings, and the customer approves work online.

    Vehicle health check

  • Margin VAT on used stock is easy to get wrong.

Margin-scheme VAT, VAT returns and a statutory stock book are in the ledger, alongside HMRC Making Tax Digital submission once you connect your account.

    Finance and VAT

  • The shop sells awnings, hoses and accessories, and the till, the website and the workshop do not agree on stock.

One parts catalogue feeds the point-of-sale till, workshop jobs and, on Professional, the online store, with backorders fulfilled on arrival.

How switching works

Questions and answers

Does Spectra handle caravans that have no registration plate?

Yes. Touring caravans are identified through CRiS, and once you switch on registration tracking, the handover gate carries a registration check that covers DVLA or CRiS.

Can customers approve extra workshop work online?

Yes. Health check reports and workshop estimates both go to the customer on a dealer-branded page for approval. VHC is part of Professional.

Will Spectra send habitation reminders?

Yes. Reminders cover MOT, service, habitation and road tax, and go to the customer by email ahead of the due date.

Can I sell accessories online as well as at the till?

The parts catalogue drives the point-of-sale till and online store listings with variants, and fulfilment can be routed across sites. The storefront is part of Professional.

Does this make us NCC compliant?

Spectra supports NCC Code of Practice requirements, from the PDI and towing check to the complaints register, and produces an assessment pack. It does not imply NCC approval.
