Compliance and NCC

Code of Practice checks, switched on per dealership.

Spectra supports NCC Code of Practice requirements, from the pre-delivery inspection and handover gate to complaint deadlines and an assessment pack. It is not approved or endorsed by the NCC.

What it does

Checks at the point they matter.

The gate always checks the signed PDI, used-vehicle habitation, balance due and CRA 2015 fitness sign-off. Other checks join once switched on. Overrides need a recorded reason, except fitness.

  • PDI and habitation
  • Support needs acknowledged
  • DVLA or CRiS registration
  • Towing and licence category
  • Demonstration and checklist
  • Balance due

Provenance, price display and storefront documents.

With the provenance gate on, a vehicle cannot be marked for sale until a check is recorded as clear (section 3.1). Window cards lead with the on-the-road price (section 2.3).

  • Provenance gate before sale
  • Price display led by the OTR price
  • Compliance documents on the storefront

A complaints register with the clock running.

Complaints move through five statuses, from Received to Closed. The 7-day acknowledgement and 28-day final-decision deadlines are tracked, and escalations to IDRS or ICE are recorded. Automatic letters are opt-in.

  • Five statuses
  • 7-day and 28-day deadlines
  • Escalation to IDRS or ICE
  • NCC Appendix 1 CSV export
  • Aftersales support requests with a 48-hour first-response deadline

Training, credentials and warranties.

The staff-training register (section 1.2) exports to Excel. Technician credentials and tools calibration live in the workshop. Warranties and aftersales requests support sections 4.3 and 4.5.

  • Staff-training register with Excel export
  • Technician NCC and gas credentials
  • Tools calibration register
  • Warranties and service plans

The evidence in one place.

The NCC assessment pack collects complaints, handover overrides, provenance, registration and towing so preparing for an assessment means running one report instead of searching through folders.

  • Complaints
  • Handover overrides

The code is written for leisure dealers. So is Spectra.

The National Caravan Council's Code of Practice reads like a leisure dealership's day, which is why the checks sit where the work happens.

  • Vulnerable customers

Once switched on, each recorded support need is acknowledged before the handover completes.

  • Towing

Once switched on, a towing-combination check and licence category verification for towable vehicles.

  • Habitation and gas

A current habitation check on used units and gas credentials for technicians.

  • Registration

Once switched on, CRiS for touring caravans and DVLA for registered vehicles.

Questions and answers

Is Spectra NCC approved?

No, and we do not imply it. Spectra supports NCC Code of Practice requirements: the handover checks, provenance gate, complaints register with its deadlines and the assessment pack help you evidence them.

Which sections of the Code does it support?

It supports specific sections between 1.2 and 5: staff training, storefront documents, vulnerable customers, price display, provenance, towing, PDI and habitation, registration, warranties, the handover demonstration, aftersales support and complaints. Several of these are checks you switch on in settings.

What happens if a check is missing at handover?

The handover cannot complete. A manager can override with a reason, and the override is recorded and included in the NCC assessment pack.

Does it handle complaints deadlines?

Yes. The register tracks the 7-day acknowledgement and 28-day final-decision deadlines and records an escalation to IDRS or ICE. Sending letters automatically is opt-in.

Can it stop a vehicle being sold without a provenance check?

Yes. With the provenance gate switched on, a vehicle cannot be marked for sale until a check is recorded as clear.

Can I export the complaints register?

Yes, as a CSV in the NCC Appendix 1 format.
